Creation Myth Summary Another word for "myth of creation" is called cosmogony, where in Greek, kosmos means "order", and genesis means "birth" explains a story of how the cosmos began and grew. A big factor of the topic for myths of creation was the Mesopotamians. They said that without them, none of this creation myths or even the creation of mankind and nature would have even occurred. In there history, they tended too believe in multiple gods such as the god of water(including ocean and sea), sky gods, earth gods, and the weapon of the sun god. Mesopotamians believe that it was their gods who basically started earth and they had their highest god who was named Marduk. The whole meaning of creation in our lives, supposedly means that each persons birth is a story which somehow reveals something more about that person. The myth of Oedipus also known as Oedipus the King, shares a main message of a mission or quest to find identity. Oedipus was left by his father too die at a young age and was later saved by another family. As Oedipus grows older, he runs into three men and ends up having an argument with them. Oedipus the kills all three men and one of the men is believed too be his father. He is rewarded for saving the city and is given the opportunity too marry the queen who ends up being his mom. This myth involves a lot of suspense, faith, and blindness. Once Oedipus ends up realizing that the person he killed was his father and the women he married was his mother the whole story becomes complete drama and Oedipus couldn't believe what he has done. This myth shows a lot of deeper messages than just Oedipus killing his father and marrying his mother such as lack of communication, dramatic series of events, and a lot of coincidences.
